Here's a good one-
I exercise 5-6 times a week doing a ton of cardio- all different types for from 70-80 min and then strength train and abs

I eat about 1200 cals a day

Then i will wake up out of dead sleep and eat- sometimes I know i am sometimes not

I have been put on medicine for ocd that has helped some
What could be causing this?

Also- is it bad to eat a protein bar before bed?

I'll be taking a trip half way around the globe in just a few weeks. Needless to say I will not be enjoying many clean, healthy meals and probably will be fighting jet lag. I will not be able to take all of my supplements with me. What's the most important to take and when should I be taking them?

Currently taking: breakfast - multi w/minerals and iron, fish oil, B complex, cal/mag, vit C, digestive enzymes; an hour later I take antibiotic for acne; lunch - fish oil, digestive enzymes; supper - digestive enzymes, cal/mag, fish oil; an hour later - 2nd dose of antibiotic; before bed I have ground flax seed and glutamine. I also have one protein shake a day, sometimes with extra glutamine.

My carb cycle plan doesn't talk about calories and I am only at 1200 or less calories today! I have reached all the percentages of fat (15g of added), Carbs (75g), and protien (135g) for the plan but I am not sure how incorporate more calories and still maintain my macronutrient levels.

Any suggestions?

I'm curious is Dr. Jim Stoppani an MD, or PhD in Nutrition (or related field)? I looked at the online Diet Doctor pages on this site, but couldn't find the answer myself.

He is a PhD, Cojay.

I am waiting to hear back from him regarding in which specific field he earned his degree, but his official title is Senior Science Editor.

Thanks for your interest! Smile

Hello!!
I just found out that i have some food intolerances!! Sad
We did the york test some days ago and now i have the result...

Foods i should avoid:
- eggs
- milk (cow, sheep, goat)
- wheat
- spelt
- gluten
- various types of nuts (para, cashews, hazelnut, almonds)
- pineapple
- chilipepper
- sesame
- yeast

Foods i should eat carefully:
- buckwheat
- lamb
- soy beans
- kiwifruit
- peaches
- cherries
- coffee
- mustard seed

soooo, that eliminates a lot of food i eat: cottage cheese, dry curd cheese, nuts, egg whites...
i'm really shocked by this result!! i have bad skin sometimes and a lot of headaches, i think thats the reason and try to avoid the foods, but how should i eat my protein??? i know, tuna and chicken, but without egg whites, cottage cheese and curd cheese...i especially need something before i go to bed, because then i usually had cottage or curd cheese with protein.
i tried some soy granules today, but they are also from soy beans so i should avoid eating them...

it would be great if you would have some ideas for me!!
thanks!

so most of the workout information i read is for people who workout in the mid day, how do I use my shakes when i workout within 1-2 hours after breakfast: i have 20g of protien and glutamine upon waking(6am) with water, then breaky 1 hour later, then if i am off or work later i go to gym by 830 or 9am. I know how to time it if i workout later in day, but the am thing confuses me. should i have one prior to workout , or will my breaky be enough, i do have weight to shed, but i want to build muscle too, I have had difficulty putting muscle on without fat gain.....sorry if this seems too basic, but i am stumped!
