Not a good day today. I am tired, sore, have a bad attitude and have made a big mess in the kitchen that I hate but am too grumpy to clean up.

My quads are so sore. It is so weird. I think it is just from squats/lunges, as that and running are the only new things, but they are SO sore I don't wanna walk, I don't wanna stand up from sitting, I don't wanna climb stairs, I don't wanna do anything!

Tomorrow is running day.
31 minutes - Warm-up: Walk slow & easy 5 minutes. Run 1 minute. Walk 2 minutes. Do this 7 times. Cool-down: Walk slow & easy 5 minutes.

I want to push myself with my workouts, but I am so tired and lethargic. Tomorrow I think I'll just get through it... that's still progress for me at this stage, but I'd like to feel more enthusiasm and energy.

I think I am eating crappy so I am hunting around for a good diet to follow. I am good with diets, in that I can eat the same (or almost the same) thing for breakfast, lunch and snacks and not get bored, it is just having it all planned out and measured out and prepared ahead... then I do great. Which I can do, if I can find a meal plan I like. I want to adjust my diet for my 10 week fat loss phase, and I recall a good one in M&FH I followed quite some time ago that didn't have any powders or special things and was about 1800 cal/day and I wasn't hungry on that even though I was pretty active. But I think it was pretty old and I can't find it online.

I also am not sure what I want to do for strength. But, we'll see... maybe just switching to dips and adding a set will be enough with what I'm doing now.

Sigh. Feeling gross and tired and a bit grumpy. Oh, just remembered, could be PMS??? Gawd, half my life is spent awry waiting for and having TOM. It's a wonder I acheive anything given I only have two weeks per month to function. Oh, and shout out to Ginger Rogers, doing it backwards and in highheels.

Some days are just freaking hard for no good reason!

Laughing Aint that the truth about pms, lol!! Our lives as women seem to revolve all around our cycles......ah well, that is why we are the 'stronger' sex Wink

In time you're going to come to learn that those sore legs/muscles means progression and will eventually question the workouts that don't cause you DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness), lol!! It will ease up and change as your body adapts to the new challenges that you are giving it.....as for working out at home, personally that is where I enjoy working out the MOST!!

Stick with it girl.....you are doing just fine!!
As for Hank......NEVER underestimate the intelligence of a cat, they are masters at manipulating humans, lol!! Look what he's doing to you......he got you to get up off your butt to try and get him to run....who was acutually doing the work here??? Not Hank, but he sure got you to move it, lol!! Laughing

ok, i ttyped out this great post but it seems to have disappeared!

I did my run, and it was much better than i expected. i think eating and drinking a full 750 mL water 30 min before really helped. Also my thighs are only sore now, I no longer question the existence of a beneficient God with each step!

It started to rain as I was about 5 min from home, and has pretty much kept it up ever since. I'll give it another 30 min and then I'll just work in the rain!

I skipped the yoga today as i didn't want to change (since I do the laundry) and I didn't want to spend another 25 min in wet clothes, but I did some more traditional stretching and we'll see.

A friend also recommended a couple of other yoga 'workouts' that aren't too strenuous so I will try one of them tomorrow!

hey - well, it was a *bit* torrential. the torrential part stopped shortly after i got home!!!

today was ok. i was VERY grumpy when I woke up and it was hard for me have a good attitude about nything, but i still did my 'usual' (haha 3rd tme!!)

12 squats as low as i can go. gonna getmy knee checked out as it is loud and starting to hurt sometimes. i find i have to keep my hands near my shoulders otherwise i start to curve my spine.
12 walking lunges (each side, outside so I could do them all in a straight line) - actually these were great. tiring, ofc, but i could do them and i am careful to go low so that was good. 2 sets next week will be plenty tho!!
12 r. deadlifts no weight. continuing to get easier
12 wall pushups. i *might* upgrade to floor pushups next week. see how 2 sets is on tuesday.
12 rear delts-no weight. this is very challenging for me to do with proper form. my right shoulder just flies around like it's not even attached. same with
12 lateral raises (with pointless bicep curl - no weight)
12 tricep dips - off the edge of the guest bed, bit low, but hard! had to pause at 8 for a gasp of air!
30 sec bicycles

i think tomorrow will be a better day. i was pretty discouraged today.

Well, I had a difficult weekend. I guess PMS or whatever but I was so angry and picking fights with everyone on Saturday - partly I think because I put too much on my schedule and then felt why even bother since I will fail... I did do my workout though.

Sunday was a pleasant day - my MIL, who is an absolute darling of a woman, will be 60 next weekend, so we (well, Juriaan who earns the big euros around here...) took her and J's sister out for a nice dinner, and then we came back and ate cake that I made! It was delicious, but 1 piece was enough as it was richer than I remembered - ofc because I can't find low fat ingredients here! Don't get me started on margarine in Holland!!!

And Sunday was my rest day, and i really enjoyed it. later today I will be doing my run... 38 min
Warm-up: Walk slow & easy 5 minutes
Run 2 minutes. Walk 2 minutes. Do this 7 times.
Cool-down: Walk slow & easy 5 minutes

It is a lovely day, and I had a glorious sleep in - although I do wonder hw I can sleep for hours if I'm not particularly tired, and then when I am tired I can''t fall asleep????

Yay me today!

Thanks for the plan Valens!!! I have already written out a list of anything I'm not 100% sure I can find at the store, and my goal for today is to go hunting!!! Anything I can't find, I will look for a substitute for.

They don't seem to have cottage cheese here!!!! I will look at the bigger store nearby though as I found out what it's called in Dutch, and maybe they do have it just packaged up all weird!!!

My metabolism is increasing a bit. Yesterday I ate my dinner and was full. About 2 hours later I was hungry again so I ate a salad I had planned for today. Then I was still hungry!!! I didn't make the best choices, but my excuse is the cupboard was bare (common!). Then this morning I woke up hungry!!!

Today I will walk around the block and then do my at-home, no weight workout... two sets.

Yesterday I wanted to push myself but I don't want to push too hard, so for the last 2 min run portion, I ran as hard as I could as long as I could.. about 1 min, then slowed down to my normal 'run' pace for the remaining minute. I'm glad I did - I felt great and sweaty and proud. But my right ankle is hurting a bit. I bet I had bad posture which I have to be wary of!!! Next time, good posture and sprint at the end!!!

OMG I couldn't believe how hard I had to work to get thru my workout today!!! I am SOOOO proud of myself!!!

Workout:
2x12 (ea side) walking lunges
2x12 wall pushups
2x12 as low as I can go squats
2x12 Romanian deadlifts (with a broomstick)
2x12 lateral raises
2x12 rear delt raises
2x12 tricep kickbacks
1 min. air bicycles

I am facing a couple of challenges, maybe someone has some ideas??
1. Right wrist. I have to use my fist even on wall pushups. I think I almost ready, strength-wise, to graduate to floor pushups, but I am finding that my r. wrist hurts and doesn't feel stable. Using my fist helps for a bit, but it does get uncomfortable... ideas/accomodations?
2. R. shoulder. Very unstable. I think the biggest problem is that my chest muscles are too tight and it is almost impossible to rest my shoulder in a neutral position. How can I work on that?

Finally, I wanted to update you on Hank's progress. He was a bit jealous that I have running shoes, weight shoes (cross trainers) and a spare pair of running shoes. We watched Rambo on TV and Hank thought that Rambo was really cool and muscular and is his new role model. Check out his new workout gear!

Had to laugh at Hank's Rambo picture. It is really cute how Hank has the 'Don't mess with me' look.

On push-ups, I also had weak wrists and did the fist push-ups on the floor for as many as I could do before the floor got to uncomfortable, then on to having my hands in regular push-up position. Or you could get something to cushion your fists while you do push-ups.

Though I still have weak wrists and haven't done a push-up in over a year due to an injury via car accident.

have you thought about push up bars or those swiveling pushup things? i think they're called perfect pushup...don't know if you can get them over there, but they're supposed to put your wrist in a more natural position. you can also use dumbbells as pushup bars if you have those
